Description Aims and Objectives
The branch was formed in 1976 and is one of about 300 in the British Isles. It works within the guidelines of the UK MS Society and has full control of its activities and finances.
The Guernsey Branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society is a local charity which seeks to supplement the services and support provided by the States of Guernsey for the benefit of MS patients in the Island. Patients do not have to be a member to benefit from our assistance.
The Branch’s activities are coordinated through the HSSD’s Specialist Nurse, who provides information and advice on symptoms and treatments and links to other health professionals.
Areas where the Branch typically helps are –
• Provision of healthcare and lifestyle related equipment
• A support and/or social network for patients, their families and friends
• Funding for complementary treatments
• Education and training for healthcare staff, patients, families and friends.
