Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday 15th May 2016 1115 Guernsey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA) The 2016 Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday will be the fifth and takes place much earlier than usual on Sunday 15th May. http://www.gspca.org.gg/page/animal-welfare-sea-front-sunday On the 15th May 2016 10am to 4pm the GSPCA will be organising a day to celebrate the animals in Guernsey and all the wonderful work that is done to care for them. We are extremely grateful to all those that made last 4 years such great days and we are hoping this years will be bigger and better. There will be stalls and fun for all the family - all with an animal theme. Fancy dress to mascot racing, childrens games to lots of food, a fun dog show to an animal less animal show, arts and crafts to charity stalls, some of the GSPCA animals looking for homes, entertainment and so much more........ This years Giant Animal Mascot Race can be entered as an individual or enter in the team event. All proceeds for this years race will help animals in Guernsey at the GSPCA so you can help support a great local charity, whilst having a lot of fun. The day starts from 10am and will take place along the Sea Front in St Peter Port and there are a variety of events and activities through the day. We are looking for charities to run stalls representing their organisation showing their involvement with animals or with an animal theme. Also businesses that feel they play a valuable part in animal welfare such as vets. If you have an art and crafts business you are also welcome. Fun Dog Show There will be a dog show starting at 12.30 with registration from 11am. This is a fun dog show and is open to any breed of dog. Best Male Puppy (2yrs and under) Best Female Puppy (2yrs and under) Best Rescue Best Smile Waggiest Tail Prettiest Bitch Most Handsome Dog Best Trick Golden Oldies (7yrs +) Best in Show (previous class winners) Entries are £1 a class. Please enter your dog on the day. Childrens Animal Fancy Dress Competition Again there will be holding a childrens animal themed fancy dress competition (time to be confirmed). If you forget your costume there will be a face and nail painter on hand to decorate you or your child. This will take place at the race area for the Giant Animal Race between the Crown Pier and Town Church. Giant Animal Mascot It's a Knock Out for the GSPCA Once again we will be holding a Giant Animal Mascot Race but this year there are a few twists. This is open to mascots and individuals prepared to dress as an animal. We are asking businesses, pubs, individuals or anyone as a team of 4 or an individual. Don't worry about what to wear we will provide the Giant Animal Mascot suit and have over 70 available. To join in the team race which will be a little like 'It's A Knockout' we are asking you to raise funds for the Shelter (ideally a minimum £25 per person) for a team or the same if you would like to race individually.. All the money raised will go towards helping animals in Guernsey. There is no cost but we do ask you raise sponsorship (ideally £25 per person minimum) which will cover the cost of the animal outfit, an advert in our Springand Summer Newsletter, allow you to put a banner up on the day and be part of a fun fund raising event. We are looking to have a Fancy Dress Childrens Race and if you know of anyone that would like to take part please do get in touch. We would also love to hear from schools that may like to get involved. There are lots of events happening during the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday from a fun dog show, arts and crafts stalls, live music, bouncy castles, kids games, food stalls, picture competitions and much more This is the fifth year the event has taken place and in previous years we have seen Bernard, Daniel the Island FM Donkey and Roary the GFC Lion and over 90 other competitors. For just £1 you can make and decorate your very own dog treat cake using a variety of treats and dog food. These will be judged to choose the best, the healthiest and the judges favourite in differing age groups. Animal Selfie Show (photo show of your animals) Not got a dog you can bring down, but own a pet then this is your chance to take part in a show without the need to bring them along. We are asking pet owners to take pictures of their pets and for a donation per class you can enter your cat, rabbit, horse, donkey, stick insect, tortoise, whatever it may be into a virtual pet show. There is even a chance to win with pictures of wildlife you may have taken. It all takes place on 15th May as part of our Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday.
